FRAMEMOTION - 2006
When frames are works of art

Frames seen not only as a way of outlining canvases or drawings, but works of art in themselves created by leading masters, whatever the framed subject. This is the philosophy behind Framemotion, the special show at the twenty-fourth Quadrum Saca, the world’s major show of frames, mouldings, graphics and dedicated technologies, to be staged between 16-19 February at the Bologna exhibition centre.

The show, set up by architect Laura Villani, intends stimulating emotions and suggesting new ways of conceiving frames, making them into interior accent pieces. The artists involved have in fact been asked to experiment innovative uses and even alternative materials and finishes.

By reversing the perspective and starting not with the contained work but rather with the frame as a “work of art” in itself, architect Villani has tried to involve in the theme major names from the world of international design, such as Alessandro Mendini, Costanza Dagna di San Marzano, Mario Bellini, Michele De Lucchi and Roberto Fallani, of art, with artists Nicola Bolla, Ottmar Kiefer, Vittorio Valente, Laura Romero and Urano Palma and of fashion, with stylists Elio Fiorucci and Krizia.

Thursday, 16 February 2006 at 11. 30 am
at the Bologna Exhibition Centre – Michelino Entrance
Hall 36, as part of the Quadrum Saca Show.
Cutting the ribbon will be stylist Elio Fiorucci.
